Jongin,
It’s your birthday today and I still can never believe you’re only a year older than me. When I see you on stage and how you act off camera, I feel like you’ve been forced to grow up so fast. Every idol is really, but when I see you, there’s a pureness to you, Jongin, that I can’t explain. Even though you didn’t want to, you were forced to take on the role of the “sexy member” to please the fans and you accepted that role because you know that that was what people wanted. That was what would make people happy and what would make the company happy. You made yourself be that person despite all of the hatred and bitterness you received, despite when people accused you of stealing the spotlight from the other members during the teaser eras. Disliking you solely because SM decided to make you the face of the group and you accepted because what else was there to do. I can’t believe you’re only turning 19 this year Jongin, and that at such a young age, you have a passion for dance so strong that you are willing to give up and hide parts of yourself. You are willing to undergo surgery for your waist injuries and simply apply bandages to ease the pain - as long as you are able to continue dancing. As long as you can be in the spotlight and when the music starts, you can forget about the pain and pressures of being an idol and can simply lose yourself in your passion. Lose yourself in the art that you’ve been doing practically since learning how to walk. Kim Jongin, I find you so special because of this passion, because of who you are and your personality. Because despite what others say, I think you try the hardest to appease the fans. While others might criticize you for “not giving enough fanservice’ or ”being too sullen” at times, I think they’re completely wrong. Honestly, I think you give the most fanservice out of every member, because you’ve changed yourself in order to make the fans happy. You’ve danced through the pain and lied in order to make the fans not worry. I think you’re so special Jongin because despite your image on stage, you’re still a child. You’re so incredibly young Jongin, and yet you’ve accomplished your dream. You’ve chased after your passion, you’ve ignored the spiteful comments and continued smiling in a way that makes my heart beat fast.
Happy birthday, Kim Jongin. Thank you for letting me see just how beautiful a person you are.
